- It forgets. Your case file keeps every letter, form and call.
- It does not remind you. We text the whole family before each date.
- It guesses dates. Ours come from SSA's rules.

We introduce an attorney or SSA-accredited representative who takes overpayment cases. Their fee is agreed with them and approved by SSA.
You sign and send the forms yourself. We are not a law firm and do not represent you before SSA. Partner firms may pay FolkKeeper for introductions; that never changes what you pay them.
Questions families ask
Can I do this for my mom or dad?
Yes. Most of our users are adult children or spouses. Your parent signs the form; you can do everything else.
Are you lawyers?
No. We explain the letter, find the dates and help you prepare the form. For a hearing or a complicated case, we will point you to a legal aid office or a representative.
Do you file anything with SSA?
No. You or your parent sign and send the form. We tell you exactly how: in person, by certified mail, or online where SSA allows it.
Waiver or reconsideration?
A reconsideration (SSA-561) says SSA got the amount or the reason wrong. A waiver (SSA-632) says the money was owed, but it was not your fault and paying it back would be a hardship. Sometimes you file both.
What happens to the photo?
We delete the photo as soon as the letter has been read. We keep only the dates and amounts from it, encrypted, and delete those after 30 days.
Is this done by a computer?
The letter is read by software that pulls out the date, the amount and the reason. The deadlines are then calculated from SSA's published rules, not guessed.
Why is SSA taking half the check?
Since April 25, 2025, new Social Security and SSDI overpayments default to 50% withholding. SSI stays at 10%. Responding in time can stop or lower it.
